EFTHIMIOS HATZIS

FILMMAKER

Efthimis Hatzis is a Greek-American filmmaker. His first feature film, Shores of Twilight, was shot in Greece and funded by the Greek Film Center. Since then, he has been based in Greece, continuing to work in both film and television, and teaching at film schools. His body of work includes films such as Rare Land, Christmas Anti-fable, Trinity, and Relics.

Raised in the Bronx, New York, Efthimis initially studied astrophysics at the University of Pennsylvania. A screening of Andrei Tarkovsky’s Stalker profoundly inspired him, leading him to shift his focus to visual communications. He went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts in film direction from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where his work earned accolades, including a Paramount Pictures Grant.

Efthimis currently lives in Athens with his family.
